01 — Terms of use
Terms of use for this referral service.
GlobalGate Homes introduces a homeowner to independent businesses. These terms describe that introduction, and say plainly what it is not: it is not a quote, not a contract, and not a promise about anyone's work.
An introduction. That is the undertaking, in full.
An introduction service, and nothing beyond the introduction.
GlobalGate Homes publishes information about home improvement projects and passes a homeowner's project details and chosen contact detail to independent businesses it contacts about that project. That is the whole of what it undertakes to do.
GlobalGate Homes receives a homeowner’s request and, on that homeowner’s explicit authorisation, contacts independent businesses of its own choosing that serve the homeowner’s area, sharing only the project details and the contact detail the homeowner chose. It does not vet, rank or vouch for those businesses, and contacting a business is not a recommendation of it. It is not a party to any contract between a homeowner and a business: it does not sign one, is not named in one, cannot enforce one and cannot be held to one.
It has no role in the quote, no role in the contract, no role in the work, no role in the payment and no role in any dispute. It does not carry out, manage, schedule, inspect or supervise construction work. It does not visit, measure, survey, design or specify a property. It does not prepare, price, review, compare or negotiate a quote. It does not take payment for work, hold a deposit or move money between a homeowner and a business.
Support at GlobalGate Homes can help with using this site: the request flow, something typed wrongly, finding a project-type page. Support cannot answer for a business you have been introduced to, cannot tell you whether a quote is reasonable, and cannot act for you in a disagreement with a business.
The fee, and what it is for. You pay the business directly for the work. Separately, you pay GlobalGate Homes its own fee for its own service: help with the introduction process — putting a request into a shape a business can quote from, explaining what a written quote should contain and what to ask about one, contacting on your authorisation independent businesses that serve your area, and telling you plainly what happened. That fee is a flat US $49 per request, and a homeowner’s first request is free. No payment is taken on this website. For a paid request, GlobalGate Homes tells you that the US $49 fee applies, and you can decline. After your agreement, GlobalGate Homes emails you an invoice, payable by bank transfer or card. Payment is collected off-site before the first business is contacted. The refund policy sets out when that fee is refunded in full, and when it is not.
What the fee does not buy. It buys nothing about the construction work itself. GlobalGate Homes does not advise on what should be built or how, does not choose materials or methods, does not write or check a specification, does not arbitrate a technical disagreement between a homeowner and a business, does not supervise a site, does not manage a project, and expresses no opinion on whether a quote, a price or a method suits a property. Washington’s WAC 296-200A-015 requires general contractor registration for consultants overseeing an owner’s construction activities, with an exception for professionals acting within their licence. GlobalGate Homes does none of those things, is not paid to do any of them, and nothing in these terms and nothing in that fee may be read as undertaking any of them.
Using this site means accepting these terms as they stand. If you do not accept them, do not send a request.
- The introduction
- Between you and GlobalGate Homes. GlobalGate Homes contacts businesses that serve your area, and its part ends when they have your project details and contact detail.
- The fee for the introduction
- Between you and GlobalGate Homes, and separate from anything you pay a business: a flat US $49 per request, and a homeowner’s first request is free. Never charged without your agreement, and never paid on this website.
- The quote
- Between you and each business. GlobalGate Homes does not write it, check it or hold a copy of it.
- The contract
- Between you and one business. GlobalGate Homes is not a party to it and is not a guarantor of it.
- The work
- Carried out by that business, on its own responsibility and under its own obligations.
- The money for the work
- Paid by you to that business, directly. Nothing for the work passes through GlobalGate Homes.
- A dispute
- Between you and that business, under the contract you signed with it. GlobalGate Homes is not a party to it and does not arbitrate it.
You choose the business, and you contract with it directly.
GlobalGate Homes decides which businesses to contact about your request, but it does not choose one for you, rank them or recommend any. You decide whether to speak to a business that contacts you, and who, if anyone, to sign with.
-
01
The business is responsible for its own quote.
Its price, its inclusions and exclusions, its allowances, its assumptions and anything it leaves out are its own. GlobalGate Homes does not see the quote, does not approve it and is not bound by anything in it.
-
02
The business is responsible for its own contract with you.
Its terms, its payment schedule, its cancellation provisions and its warranty, if it gives one, are agreed between you and it. Read the contract before you sign it, and ask that business — not this service — about anything in it you do not understand.
-
03
The business is responsible for the work and the schedule.
Its people, its subcontractors, its sequencing, its site safety and its dates are its own. GlobalGate Homes does not direct a crew, does not book a trade, does not attend an inspection and does not sign anything off.
-
04
The business is responsible for its own registrations and insurance.
Whatever registration, licensing, bonding or insurance the law requires of it where the property is, it holds and maintains on its own account. GlobalGate Homes does not hold those things on its behalf and does not stand behind them.
-
05
The business is responsible for what it does with your details.
Once a business has received your request, its own practice governs what it keeps and for how long. To have its copy deleted, ask that business directly. The privacy notice explains what it would have received and why it received it.
The short list.
An introduction is an opportunity to be contacted. It is not an appointment, not an offer and not an assurance about anyone. Everything on this list is something this service does not undertake, and will not undertake while it is a referral service.
- That any business will respond to your request, how many will, or how quickly.
- That any business is available, has capacity, or can start within any period.
- That GlobalGate Homes will find a business that serves your area or takes on your kind of project.
- That any business it contacts has been vetted, verified or checked by GlobalGate Homes. It has not: check a business’s registration yourself before you hire it — use the official Washington register.
- That any price, estimate, quote or timeline given to you by a business will be met.
- That any particular business is suitable for your project, or is the right one for it. That judgement is yours to make.
- That the work will be carried out to any standard. The standard is whatever your contract with the business requires of it.
- That the fee buys an outcome. It buys help with the introduction process; it does not buy a quote you are happy with, a business that says yes, or any judgement about the building work.
- That this site will be available without interruption, or that a page will be without error. Pages describing the kinds of work that can be requested are general information, not advice about your property.
No directory, no profile. Check each business yourself.
What a business tells you is its own statement. Check it before you hire.
This site publishes no directory and no profile of any business. GlobalGate Homes does not vet, verify, rank or vouch for the businesses it contacts about a request.
A business that contacts you will tell you its name, and may tell you its registration number, its insurance and the areas it works in. All of that is its own statement. GlobalGate Homes has not checked it and does not stand behind it.
Registration details can go out of date between one day and the next. A registration can lapse, a business can change hands. This site is not a register and cannot speak for one.
So check the details yourself, at the official register, before you let anyone start work. That check takes a few minutes and it is worth them. In Washington State, use the official L&I register; elsewhere, the licensing authority of the state where the work is done.
This service does not rank businesses for you, does not score them and does not recommend one over another. Where more than one contacts you, they are yours to compare.
- From the business
- Its name, its registration, its insurance and its terms, as it states them to you. Its own statements, not checked by GlobalGate Homes.
- From the public register
- The record held by the authority that issued a registration. That record, read by you on the day you look, is the one to rely on.
- Your part
- Check the entry in that register yourself, and ask the business for anything the register does not show, before you let it start.
- How to check
- In Washington State, the official L&I register. Elsewhere, the licensing authority of the state where the work is done.
- No ranking
- Businesses are not scored, ranked or recommended here. Where several contact you, the comparison is yours.
A request must be a real one.
The whole service rests on a request meaning what it says. A business that receives one is going to spend its time on it, and a homeowner who sends one is going to be telephoned about it.
So: send a request only for a project you actually have, at a property you own or are responsible for, giving a name and a contact detail that are yours and that you are content to be contacted on. Do not submit someone else's details, or a project that is not real, or the same request repeatedly to see what happens.
Do not use this site, or a request sent through it, to collect information about businesses in bulk, to advertise to them, or to approach a business that contacts you for anything other than the project you described. Do not attempt to interfere with the site, to send anything harmful through it, or to reach parts of it that are not published.
The text, drawings and structure of this site, and the GlobalGate Homes name and mark, may not be reproduced for commercial purposes without written permission. You may link to any page.
Access can be withdrawn where this section is being ignored. These terms may change; when they do, the changed version is published on this page and the date it was issued is shown on it.
- A genuine project
- A project you actually intend to have carried out, at a property you own or are responsible for.
- Your own details
- A name and one contact detail that are yours, and on which you are content to be contacted by businesses GlobalGate Homes contacts about your project.
- One request at a time
- No repeated or automated submissions, and no requests sent on someone else's behalf without their knowledge.
- No harvesting
- No bulk collection of business details, no scraping, and no approaching a business that contacts you for anything but your own project.
- The content
- General information about kinds of work and how to read a quote. It is not advice about your property, and it forms no part of any contract.
Nothing on this page takes away a right you have under consumer law.
These terms describe what this service does and does not undertake. They are not an attempt to sign away anything the law gives you, and they should not be read as one.
Where anything written here would conflict with a right you have under the consumer law that applies to you, that right prevails and the wording here gives way to it, to the extent of the conflict. The rest of the page continues to apply.
The same is true of your dealings with a business you are introduced to. Whatever protections the law gives you in a contract with that business — over the quote, the cancellation of a contract, the standard of the work or anything else — are yours in that contract, and nothing on this page touches them.
How to reach the service.
The contracting company and the governing-law clause.
Your contracting party for the referral service is GLOBAL GATE HOMES UK LTD, trading as GlobalGate Homes. Any construction contract remains directly between you and the independent business you choose.
GlobalGate Homes is the trading name of the referral service operated by GLOBAL GATE HOMES UK LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales with Companies House under company number 17131309.
How the service is funded is settled. A homeowner pays the business directly for the work, and pays GlobalGate Homes a flat US $49 per request for its own service, as section 02 sets out; a homeowner’s first request is free. Whether a business ever pays GlobalGate Homes anything is still undecided; it will be stated on About and reflected here before any business pays anything, rather than described in careful language in the meantime.
Questions about these terms go to contact@globalgatehomes.com or +1 (509) 741-0381. A person answers, in English or French.
